KGSP - TOPIK Attempt 2

So this Sunday was my second attempt at TOPIK. It's been a bit of build up towards it so I'm glad it's over. I'm not sure how I did though. Like, I guess it's possible that I passed, but I really don't know how good my chances are.

I managed to answer everything which was good, but again whether or not it was correct or incorrect is a different story. I'm feeling better about this one than January which is good, but I won't know my result until June.

Second attempt means second marker.

I really hope I pass it. I reeaaally hope I pass it. But I'm feeling very borderline so I have no idea. Can only hope for the best though and just continue studying. I still have one more chance in July regardless though, so we'll see.

So my friend has a birthday on Saturday, so we decided to celebrate his birthday and us finishing TOPIK on Sunday night instead, so afterwards we went out for dinner and then just chilled in a park for the rest of the night. And so that's why I'm writing this post on a Monday.

I don't have pictures from yesterday but here's an alcoholic smoothie.

Pretty nice to go out and chill with friends after a long day of test writing. TOPIK has been on everyone's mind for so long that I'm glad we can relax a bit more.

Weather is getting pretty nice too. When it's not raining we're hitting mid to high 20s now in the afternoon, which is great. But it's a bit hot and hot temperatures suck. I'd be totally down for low 20 weather all the time.

Honey ice cream with peanuts.

I actually have no idea if the AC works in the room yet either. The dorm takes care to limit our usage of these things so they can save money. Anyways aside from that that's pretty much been the week. I have my plane tickets booked for Jeju as well for my vacation period in May, so that should be fun.

KGSP - Exam Week Food

So this last week was more of the same really, just with the added bonus of TOPIK looming ahead. In exactly a week I will have completed TOPIK for the second time. I'm not sure how I feel about that tbh. It felt like I had a long time to prepare, but now that it's imminent it doesn't feel that way haha.

Like my Korean has improved since January, that's a given. But, I still have a lot more to learn and I'm not sure if I can potentially reach level 3 yet, but more on that later. Since TOPIK coincidentally coincided with midterms, we got free food again last week.

A nice looking piece of bread with sweet corn inside.

So like last semester's midterm and final's week, the dormitory gave the students free food during the daily roll call. Last time we got it for like three nights, but this time we only got food for two days though. The first night was that bread.

It looked like a Chinese bun that I would eat at home, but there was sweet corn inside so it was weird. I only ate one. The second night we got chicken and a Pepsi. Previously we got a box of KFC so I expected that too, but this time we got something different.

Spicy marinated chicken at 11 PM.

It was ok. I had to microwave it for a bit because they gave it to us at room temperature. I didn't finish all of it though cause it was late and I didn't want to eat that much just prior to going to sleep. Thought is what counts I guess.

And I guess that last interesting food item I ate this week was some poutine. So obviously poutine is a Canadian food item, so the fact that the Hungarian bar here in Korea served it was weird to me. I finally brought myself to order it on Friday because I figured I had to try it.

Looks kinda depressing actually.

Honestly I'd give it a solid 4/10. The gravy was a weird one that was kinda ketchupy in flavour, so it didn't taste right. Plus there wasn't enough cheese on it, so it didn't really have the heaviness you normally associate with poutine.

Probably wouldn't try it again, but hey now I can say I tried poutine in Korea. Anyways back to Korean and TOPIK. My Korean has improved, but I'm not sure if it's improved to Level 3 yet. I might just be right under that so if I'm lucky I can definitely get it, but I'm not sure.

Side note: I wasn't lucky enough to find a McDonalds that still had Tiga during their Happy Meal run.

I reaaally want to get it this time cause it'll be a lot off of my shoulders and would just generally be great. I'm trying to study more, but I just can't seem to focus on anything. I get distracted way too much and it's not working.

But we'll see. This time next week TOPIK will be over and then the final chance will be in July.

KGSP - The Countdown Begins

This week was pretty much more of the same. A bit different, but more of the same. We're counting down to the next TOPIK that I'll be taking, so it's feeling a bit crunchy but at the same time I still feel kinda unmotivated to study >_>

Anyways so aside from class I did a few things. One of the more interesting things this week was that my friend got a tattoo. I didn't have anything else to do and she wanted someone to go with her so I went and played Pokemon while she got her tattoo done.

I'm not gonna post a picture of the tattoo, so here's a picture of my red pen that I've been using since Grade 6 that just ran out of ink.

That was interesting I guess. First time in a tattoo parlor and the needle instrument thing makes a noise that isn't entirely pleasant. Other than that it was ok. That same friend plus another friend had a birthday this weekend too, so Friday was just celebration and Saturday was mostly just rest.

Today wasn't very exciting either to be honest. This morning I went down to the card shop where they were holding the PPTQ for Magic. I didn't play but I went there to sell some cards and buy some cards. There was a loooot of people there today though.

I like how this guy just brought his daughter along for the ride.

And of course, since TOPIK is in two weeks I tried to study a bit harder today, but it's like impossible >_>. I really need to pass this TOPIK though. It's not the end of the world if I don't, but it makes life a lot less stressful and convenient if I do.

I think I can do it though if I'm a bit lucky. But regardless I need to prepare more. Lots of phrases, vocabulary and grammar that I need to memorize before the test. Gonna try to cut down on the gaming a bit more as well, but we'll see how effective my studying becomes.

Didn't take that many pictures this weekend, so here's a picture of a steak I desperately needed.

I didn't go hiking this weekend. Gonna try again next weekend as well >_>

KGSP - April Showers

It rained a lot this week. Of the last seven days it was rainy on like. Five of them. So as a result the weather was always kinda like, grey, crappy and rainy. It also got a bit colder too. But on the day where it didn't rain the weather was nice.

For the most part this week wasn't too eventful. The big thing once again was the cherry blossoms. So like last week the blossoms are still up, but this week is pretty much the last week to view them in Daegu I think. Already some of the blossoms are falling off.

The last like 20 pictures on my phone are just blossoms.

So yea, this week was mostly just me checking out trees for the most part. Keimyung is supposedly well known for it's beautiful campus, but honestly I didn't really get that that much when I first got here. Yea, the campus is nice, but it wasn't like, anything spectacular.

But once Spring started rolling in and the blossoms started blooming, I understood why. I went to the street in our campus that is well known for their cherry blossoms to check it out. The first day I went it was pretty dreary cause it was cloudy, but the second time I went, it was a lot nicer.

Pretty much looks like white leaves.

But yea, like I mentioned last week, cherry blossoms look nice. I kinda want one in my backyard now when I have my own place. I really wonder why people back at home don't have them. Wonder if there's some sort of rule or weather issue that prevents it.

Aside from the cherry blossoms it was a pretty standard week. Nothing too special. I wanted to go hiking this week, but unfortunately because of the rain that was cancelled so I mostly just stayed on campus and played games and chilled with friends.

Also sleeping in is impossible when your light blocker has an obvious flaw.

So maybe I'll go hiking next week. Granted there's only three weeks until TOPIK, so I should be studying hard.
